The Vanguard Centre is 4 years old today!

The Vanguard Centre

Today, we are celebrating the 4 year anniversary of the Vanguard Centre! We opened our doors on the 11th of September 2015, and so today marks four full years of being open. The last year has been a whirlwind of activity, but the main theme has been one of increasing success.

Staying open for the last four years has sometimes been a challenge, we won’t lie. It is not cheap to run a full-time training centre in a commercial warehouse. It is also a major pain in the neck dealing with all the red tape and bureaucracy that we need to wrestle with to keep the place open.

However, over the last year, it has been easier to do all this than it has in the past. We have an incredible team of staff members who work very hard to deliver a high level of service, and who work behind the scenes to make sure everything remains organised, healthy, and safe. At our most recent Network Rail safety inspection, for example, we passed with flying colours, and received praise from the inspector for being well-organised and having a healthy attitude towards safety and preparedness in the Vanguard Centre.

We also have a growing list of regulars who come along to participate in archery, blacksmithing, and HEMA in Glasgow. We enjoy seeing you in our venue, and we take it as a huge compliment when you decide to come back again and again. Thank you for your support and friendship over the last year (or more). As an interesting statistic, we had more than 70 people sign up for annual membership last year, and we would like to see this healthy size continue.

During the previous year, we have been continuing our community outreach with charities, museums, and social enterprises in and around the city. Word is beginning to spread about us through the third sector in Glasgow and we are keen to remain helpful and socially-minded whenever such organisations approach us with a project or idea.

Thank you to everyone who has visited us at the Vanguard Centre over the last four years, and we hope to see many of you again soon!
